2013 AGM Notice

posted Oct 19, 2013, 4:23 AM by Willowburn FC

***Saturday November 23 at 10am at the Commonwealth Oval clubhouse***

All Committee positions will be declared vacant at Willowburn's upcoming AGM.

We all know how strong a position our club is in on the field, but we have also made some solid progress off the field in recent years. We occupy a wonderful facility, are in a stable financial position and are well on our way towards gaining Level 1 NCAS accreditation. We have supportive sponsors, new strips across the board, and strong Colts and Fillies coming through the ranks ready to carry on the Club's legacy.

Like all clubs, we also face challenges. Our junior club needs to attract more players and we need to assist our coaches in their ongoing development. We need to improve our collection of player registration fees and our approach to the Division 1 comp needs to evolve. There will doubtless be other new challenges that arise over the coming year.

So now is the perfect opportunity for you to put your hand up and play your part in supporting the club that has supported you. The more the merrier in our view, it would be great to have representation from Senior Men, Ladies, Colts, Fillies and Juniors. Ask yourself what you can do to strengthen our Club further next year, and drop Derek Tuffield a line at (insert contact details here) if you would like to nominate yourself, someone else, or if you have any other good ideas.

See Agenda and Nomination Forms attached to this announcement and see you on the 23rd.

Willowburn looking to boost Colts' stocks for 2013 season

posted Dec 17, 2012, 6:50 PM by Trent Donovan

Willowburn Colts players Ben Paterson (left) and Josh Shoesmith are hopeful of working with a new coach in 2013.

WILLOWBURN Football Club has not long wrapped up one of its most successful recent seasons, but incoming president Derek Tuffield has already targeted a club priority for 2013.

Tuffield took over the club presidency last month following two previous three-year stints in the job and has set about his first goal of bolstering the Magpies' Colts stocks for next year.

"Our Colts have struggled a little over the last few years and we are very keen to try and address that," Tuffield said.

"To help us, we are looking for an experienced coach who is keen to teach our enthusiastic players and help develop them for the 2013 season.

"We have an acting coach in place but they will step aside when we can hopefully appoint someone full-time to the position.

"It's an area we have struggled in previously and we would certainly love to hear from anyone who thinks they might be the right person for the job.

"The Colts (16-18 years) are the future for all clubs and nurturing them is a high priority."

Willowburn's 2012 included wins in the club championship, Premier Men and Reserve Men premierships, Presidents Cups and the Winstanley Shield.

The Magpie's are also enjoying a beneficial association with the junior Garden City Raiders club.

"We have been building a good relationship with the Garden City Raiders who have around 300 juniors," Tuffield said.

"Our junior numbers are around only 50 or 60.

"Being in an older area of the city with not a lot of expansion we find we have to work doubly hard for numbers.

"So the connection with Garden City feeding into our seniors is proving to be a benefit to both our clubs."
